THRIPOR-L is a predatory bug that can be used for the biological control of thrips in various crops. This product is especially effective when the crops produce pollen. THRIPOR-L is available in units of 500 or 2000, packaged in bottles with buckwheat and vermiculite.
This product contains the predatory bug Orius laevigatus; which can be used for the biological control of various thrips species; such as western flower thrips; echinothrips and onion thrips. The predatory bug can also survive on aphids; spider mites; moth eggs and pollen; which makes THRIPOR-L very effective in pollen-producing crops. Effective control in other crops can be acquired by repeated releases.
How does THRIPOR-L work?
All stages of the predatory bug feed on thrips; which results in reduction of the pest population. They puncture their prey and feed on the contents. What remains on the plant are empty shells of the pest. At high thrips densities; the predatory bugs kill more thrips than they need as food. An adult female can consume up to twelve thrips per day; which results in a steady decrease of thrips population.

Preventive or light infestation: 1-2 per m², repeat once after two weeks.
One release suffices for pollen-producing crops.
Heavy infestation: 5-10 per m², repeat once after one week.
Repeating the release more often in floriculture could be necessary for effective control.
Scatter the contents of the bottle over the crop,
Either on the ground, the leaves or in small cardboard boxes that can be attached to the plants.
Release in groups promotes mating of the predatory bugs.
If necessary, prune the plants before THRIPOR-L is released to prevent loss of eggs.
