What is FRANKLINOTHRIPS VESPIFORMIS?
FRANKLINOTHRIPS VESPIFORMIS is a predatory thrips that can be used for the biological control of harmful; leaf-dwelling thrips; such as echinothrips; palm thrips; orchid thrips and Japanese flower thrips. The product is also effective against western flower thrips and might have a mild effect on spider mites. Partly because of their behaviour; the adult predatory thrips resemble ants. Larvae of FRANKLINOTHRIPS VESPIFORMIS start out translucent white; but change into a bright red after a while. Despite their colour; the larvae are difficult to locate in the plants.
How does FRANKLINOTHRIPS VESPIFORMIS work?
Both the larvae and the adults are active searchers. They feed on the larvae and adult stages of the harmful thrips; which lead to a reduction in pest density. FRANKLINOTHRIPS VESPIFORMIS prefers to prey on leaf-dwelling; harmful thrips and is also effective on non-flowering plants. The build up of the predatory thrips population takes at least five to six weeks. FRANKLINOTHRIPS VESPIFORMIS is best for indoor applications. While this species does not have a winterrest period; it is most active during spring and summer.
How to combine FRANKLINOTHRIPS VESPIFORMIS?
FRANKLINOTHRIPS VESPIFORMIS is great in combination with predatory mite sachets; such as THRIPEX-PLUS or SWIRSKI-MITE PLUS.
Be aware that MIRICAL and FRANKLINOTHRIPS VESPIFORMIS do not combine well: the predatory thrips feed on the young predatory bugs.
