What is SWIRSKI-MITE ?

SWIRSKI-MITE contains the predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii that can be used for the biological control of various thrips species; such as western flower thrips; onion thrips and echinothrips. The predatory mite also feeds on the eggs and larvae of whitefly and on two-spotted spider mite and tarsonemid mite.

How does SWIRSKI-MITE work?

Adult predatory mites and nimphs suck out the contents of eggs and larvae of both thrips and whitefly. They also feed on tarsonemid mites and two-spotted spider mite. In addition; Amblyseius swirskii can build up a population on pollen of for example paprika and egg plant. These predatory mites can therefore be released as soon as the crop starts to flower. The predatory mites are packaged per 50.000 in 500 ml bottles with carrier material. The contents of the bottle can easily be distributed over the crop; releasing a great number of predatory mites at once. For a more gradual application; we advice to use the SWIRSKI-MITE PLUS sachets.

How to combine SWIRSKI-MITE?

Against thrips infestation; this product is great in combination with THRIPOR or THRIPEX. SWIRSKI-MITE against whitefly is great in combination with the parasitoids ENERMIX or EN-STRIP. MIRICAL is also a good choice.

Preventive:25-50 predatory mites per m², repeat regularly each 2-3 weeks.Light infestation:50-250 predatory mites per m², repeat regularly each 2-3 weeks.Heavy infestation:200-400 predatory mites per m², repeat regularly each week.

• Scatter the contents of the bottle over the leaves.
• Rotate the bottle regularly during distribution to make sure the predatory mites are spread equally throughout the bottle.
• The predatory mites need time to crawl from the carrier material.
• The product can also be distributed with a mechanical blower.
