CAPSANEM nematodes for the biological control of caterpillars, leatherjackets and beetle larvae. The nematodes are effective as soon as the soil temperature reaches 14°C. The soil must be moist at all times. This product can be applied both indoors and outdoors. The product should be dissolved and diluted in water, after which it is distributed over the soil. The most common package of CAPSANEM contains 50 million nematodes, which suffices for 50 – 100 m². In addition, a bigger package of 500 million nematodes is available. This is sufficient for 500 – 1000 m².
The product CAPSANEM contains the nematode Steinernema carpocapsae that can be used for the biological control of caterpillars; leatherjackets and beetle larvae. The nematodes can be applied both aboveground and in the soil.
How does CAPSANEM work?
As soon as the nematodes have been released; they actively start to look for a host. They will enter their through openings in the body; transferring bacteria which infect and eventually kill the host. Both before and after the distribution of the nematodes; the soil needs to be moist. The nematodes require a moisty environment to be able to move through the soil. The soil temperature has to be between 14 and 33 °C. When applying aboveground; it is recommended to release the product in the evening to prevent exposure to UV. By controlling the larvae and caterpillars; no new adults will develop; which strongly reduces pest numbers.
How to combine CAPSANEM?
Against moths; CAPSANEM is great in combination with DELTA TRAPS that contain a species-specific pheromones to attract moths. For use against beetle larvae LARVANEM is recommended.
