SPICAL ULTI-MITE are bags with predatory mites for the biological control of spider mites and other types of harmful mites such as citrus mites, fruit spider mites and strawberry mites. Every sachet releases 100 predatory mites over the course of four to six weeks. Also suitable for preventive use. The predatory mites are mostly applied indoors, but can also be released outdoors during summer. The sachets are made of 100% compostable material. This product is available per 25 sachets (private customers), 100 or 500 sachets (business customers).
SPICAL ULTI-MITE are small sachets that contain the predatory mite Neosieulus californicus. They are white-brown; drop-shaped mites on short legs. The mites are very mobile and are often found on the underside of leaves. They prey on several mite species; such as spider mite; citrus mite; broad mite and cyclamen mite. SPICAL ULTI-MITE sachets are made of 100% compostable material. Therefore; the bags can be disposed together with plant waste. The sachets are designed in such a way that the development of the predatory mites is stimulated.
How does SPICAL ULTI-MITE work?
The predatory mites actively search for prey. They puncture their prey and feed on the contents. The empty shells of the prey get left behind on the plant. The nymphs of Neoseiulus californicus prefer younger stages of mite; while adults consume all stages. Over the course of 4-6 weeks; about 100 predatory mites emerge from the sachets.. Neoseiulus californicus It can even survive without prey for several days. Therefore this product is ideal for preventive application. SPICAL predatory mites are relatively tolerant of pesticide residues.
How to combine SPICAL ULTI-MITE
When spider mite occurs in multiple hotspots; we strongly recommend to combine SPICAL with SPIDEX VITAL. Both products contain the specialist predatory mite Phytoseiulus persimilis and can only be introduced when spider mites are already present in the crop. At high spider mite densities Phytoseiulus is more effective than Neoseiulus. At lower densities and lower relative humidity; SPICAL is more effective than Phytoseiulus.
Mild to average infestation: 0,5 sachet per m².
Heavy infestation: 1 sachet per m².
Repeat every four weeks.
Combine with SPIDEX when infestation is heavy.
Immediately distribute the sachets over the plants. Hold the sachet at the cardboard clamp to prevent damage of the predatory mites.
A small hole in the sachet enables the predatory mites to crawl outside.
