What is MACROLOPHUS PYGMAEUS?
MACROLOPHUS PYGMAEUS is a predatory bug. The adults are bright green and the basis of the antennae is black. The nymphs start yellow-green; but with aging; they start to resemble the adult individuals more and more. The predatory bugs not only feed on whitefly; but also on other small prey; such as spider mites or aphids. They also feed on plant saps.
How does MACROLOPHUS PYGMAEUS work?
The predatory bugs puncture their prey and feed on the contents. The empty shell of the prey remains on the plant. The supplementary food (Artemia) that is included with this product enables the predatory mites to establish in the crop when prey are scarce. Therefore; MACROLOPHUS PYGMAEUS can be applied preventively. After several weeks the number of nymphs will increase and the bugs have established.
How to combine MACROLOPHUS PYGMAEUS?
MACROLOPHUS PYGMAEUS is great in combination with parasitoids against whitefly; such as ENERMIX. The parasitoids are great searchers and target the whitefly nymphs that are dispersed all over the plants.
