What is Pheromone Duponchelia?

Pheromones are specific fragrances that you can use to attract insects of a specific species. Often these are fragrances that the females of that insect species use to attract males. The pheromone was copied in the laboratory and put in a capsule. When you use the pheromone capsules in the greenhouse; the fragrance gradually evaporates from the carrier. It takes about six weeks for the pheromone to evaporate. If you keep the capsules in the freezer you can store them for a long time. No evaporation takes place in the freezer. Pheromone Duponchelia specificallt attracts male Duponchelia moths. Other species are not attracted to this pheromone.

How does Pheromone Duponchelia work?

The pheromone for Duponchelia is best used in combination with a delta trap with glue plates. Adult male moths flying around will be attracted to the pheromone and will be caught on the glue plate of the trap. With this catching system you will not be able to catch all moths flying in the greenhouse. It is mainly intended to detect whether and; if so; how many adult moths are present. However; the more traps you deploy; the greater the number of moths that will be caught. By catching the males; the plague will slightly decrease.

How to combine Pheromone Duponchelia

Pheromone Duponchelia should be used in combination with a trap; such as the deltatrap with glue plates. You cannot combat the caterpillars of the Duponchelia moth with this product. We advise the use of CAPSANEM against Duponchelia caterpillars. CAPSANEM contains nematodes that can be dissolved in water. You can pour the nematode solution over the soil or spray it on the affected plants.
Another way to control the caterpillars is with predatory mites. The products ENTOMITE-M and MACRO-MITE contain soil-dwelling predatory mites. They reside in the upper layer of the soil; where Duponchelia caterpillars can be found too.
