Effective against Icerya
What does RODOLIA CARDINALIS look like?
This predatory beetle is 2.5-4 mm in size. Males are slightly smaller than females. RODOLIA CARDINALIS is red and has black dots that can vary in their pattern. The hairs covering its body can sometimes give them a dusty appearance. The females can lay about 200 eggs, often in the ridged Icerya egg pouches. The eggs are bright, out of which red-brown larvae hatch. Pupae are red with black. Development from egg to adult takes approximately four weeks.
How does RODOLIA CARDINALIS work?
RODOLIA CARDINALIS is a real specialist and only eats Icerya, which makes it very effective. The small beetle larvae only eat Icerya eggs, while larger larvae and adults feed from all stages.
When can RODOLIA CARDINALIS be applied?
In colder climates like the Netherlands, RODOLIA CARDINALIS can be applied in greenhouses, indoor gardens and botanical gardens. In warmer climates, like the Mediterranean region, RODOLIA CARDINALIS can be used outdoors. RODOLIA CARDINALIS is very sensitive for (side) effects of chemical pesticides.
