What does ENCARSIA CITRINA look like?

Adult parasitoids are only 0.5-1 mm in size and have a brown colour. They have green eyes, three red dots on the head (=ocelli) and relatively long feathered wings. The wasps are predominantly female, and males are very rare. Parasitized armoured scales are difficult to recognize. They turn slightly darker and a vague ring of feces around the young parasitoid becomes visible. Adult parasitoids emerge from a round hole in the cover of the armoured scale.

How does ENCARSIA CITRINA work?

ENCARSIA CITRINA parasitizes small stages of several scale insects. Both male and female armoured scales are parasitized. The adult parasitoid deposits eggs underneath the cover on the body of the armoured scale. After hatching, larvae will eat from the armoured scale until it dies. When the larvae develop into adults, they will emerge from a round to oval-shaped hole in the cover of the armoured scale. Adult parasitoids also feed from armoured scales, after which it will die (host-feeding).

When can ENCARSIA CITRINA be applied?

ENCARSIA CITRINA is mainly used to control Pinnaspis aspidistraeAbrafllaspis cyanophylli, Aspidotus nerii and Diaspis bromeliae in greenhouses and indoor plantings. ENCARSIA CITRINA is mainly effective during spring and fall. Consider multiple introductions. The product is sensitive to several chemical pesticides. Ask advice for deployment strategies.
